I did this. See my above post. Almost everything is the same but the light tunnels in the 05-11 models are different than the 12-15 models. I made them work with some cutting, but then the LEDs don't line up right with the light tunnels. I ended up having to add in 5 Amber LEDs and wire them to the shifter light and place them carefully where the 12-15 LEDs would be. It can be done but it's a PIA.

Well--WE'RE WAITING! Ha, I would think that a few screws and the clips would work out just fine.

Yo! Can't wait to get those plugs from you. What did you use to terminate the wires on either end in order to pin the ends to the plugs?

For the record, this doesn't work without cutting plastic. The light tunnels and lighting do not line up.

I just crimped the tabs over. Then paid attention to where the plugs go to. :D

And you are right. It's like toyota wanted to bring your hopes up looking at it and going ohhh this might work and then they just shift the little things over a 1/8 inch so it doesn't :bananadead:image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpg:frusty:

Yeah, I did, bub, but I wanted to see for myself since I had both HVAC units and nothing to lose.

I am in the process of doing mine and I have decided to make a pig tail to plug in so I can go back to stock if I ever decide to. My question is instead of soldering the wires, can you not reverse two wire in the connector. I mean it seems to be the case since you can do the solder trick.

Well in that case it would be possible to do so from the beginning of the it all at the connection. The problem is is those two wires power the whole cluster so if you switch at the plug you switch them all. That's why you do the soldering. It's only flipping the polarity for the one switch dial.

FYI, I had to swap the gray A/C wire to pin 13 on my 2011 to get the A/C to properly toggle on and off.

I had to put the gray wire from pin 16 in this diagram in pin 13. Sorry for the delay.

I believe there are 7 screws and a few clips total to dissect the assembly. There is one or two screws behind a portion that needs to be removed, IIRC.

psst... I see your 4x4 switch is lighted, where did you source your bulbs?

I am going to use a 4runner switch - but bulbs come in amber. I would like white to match the rest of my interior lights
