TC arms are also chromoly, there has to be something else being a major factor that caused them to break. But as long as you don't plan on jumping your truck then you'll be fine.

Well I was hoping to get the longest travel I can without going LT but I'm still trying to figure it out

Longest travel without LT is a mid travel setup like me and @Acerwin. Mid travel coil overs (extended travel) are 10" travel but we don't get full use out of that because of limiting factors (UCA's limiting droop and preload limiting stuff), where as LT since everything is extended out the angles are less severe allowing you to get more travel. LT you can run a 16" spring and have 0 preload for a 3" lift, allowing you to stuff the full 6". I probably have 6" of stuff with the amount of preload on my MT setup, which is much less pre load than most people have.

The amount you compress the spring to achieve lift.

People with Icons have a lot more preload because they come with a 13" spring, look how far down the collar is on the shock body
    R0016488.jpg

    Versus King with a 14" spring. IMG_1207.jpg

I have a bit more preload with my kings but not much more. That Icon pic is about the preload most people have on their icons

Edit: When you turn the collar down its pre-loading the spring (compressing it) to gain lift.

I think I have about that many too, going to pre load some more though before summer to retain lift on my 600's :anonymous:

14" coils is the largest you can put on a mid travel coil over. I have 600lb with armor, he has 650's soon to be 700lb coils. Kings come with 14" springs, icons come with 13" springs

Just plan on a full 3", which will end up being about 2.5" or so. Armor will weigh it down and depending on how you setup the front suspension.

I originally only wanted to lift no more than 2" but now look lol
