Just an observation for what its worth.

I've been running Bridgestone Blizzaks for the past few winters and have been extremely impressed with their performance in snow and ice. Especially ice. Recently I put on a set of Toyo Open Country AT IIs thinking this would be a great all season tire and I wanted to see how they'd do on ice and snow.

Today we have bad weather with freezing rain and snow so the roads were slick, but I didn't expect anything too terrible driving wise. Compared to the Blizzaks the Toyos are are horrid on ice. Normal driving with the Bridgestones wouldn't have been a problem whatsoever. Instead I slid through an intersection on the way out of my neighborhood, then turing into work I kept going straight and jumped a curb. The Blizzaks are going back on for the winter!

Toyos will be put on for Spring through Fall. Experiment done.

You can't expect an A/T tire to work the same as a dedicated winter tire. Not going to happen. My Toyos do ok but here lately haven't been great in wet conditions.

^ what he said. the AT II's are fun when you want to slide around, but I'm cautious when normally driving in slick conditions. They have done good in fresher snow, but the hard pack that is frozen let's them break loose easier.
