Well, I appealed to the corporate office about the steering wheel and related vibration at 2,000 rpm. The answer was blunt, and direct. "The vehicle performs as designed. Therefore, there is no warranty issue." Attempts to get an explanation for the cause of the vibration got the answer, "The vehicle performs as designed. Therefore, there is no warranty issue." A recording or a trained parrot would have served the same purpose as the case person. I asked what the next level of appeal would be, and was told that there is none. The matter is settled.

Anybody getting better results? Hopefully, someone will be able to explain why Toyota intentionally engineered some of the Tacomas to have a vibration at around 2,000 rpm; A strange engineering goal, to say the least.

I wonder if the ujoints being dry might have a little todo with this? Just saying....

I get a little vibration especially in the gas pedal around that range, but it has settled down a bit after 3k miles. Gonna check and grease u-joints this week.

That has been their response to steering wheel shake for over a decade.

If you're talking about the strong buzzing vibration in the wheel based on RPMs, no one has gotten anywhere aside from the owner in Post 321 on this other thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/unusual-vibration-at-certain-rpms.397620/page-17.

Take off the bad year tires, problem solved. We see more issue out of Goodyear 100:1 to all other brands combined. My blemished 10 ply coopers took less weight to balance than the smaller 4 ply bad years.

My goodyears on my f150 were junk from the beginning. I work at the ford dealership and they wouldn't even swap them for me. If I was a regular customer I would of got them replaced no problem. I get terrible vibrations when they are cold or sit for a long period. They are very soft. I've brought the truck in 3 times. Some times it's so damn bad it feels like a migraine. We rebalanced once and road forced balanced which helped a little. All the guys say they are soft. And that's how they are but I work and drive a ton of them and have never felt vibrations like I get some times. I know the roads around here don't help (buckle from the freeze thaw, along with potholes galore) maybe I've got used to it a little or now that I have a lot more mileage and they have worn they aren't as bad. But I wouldn't get another set of Goodyear Wranglers. I did want to get a set of the Goodyear duratracs, but I don't want to put new tires on this lease. Maybe when I get my next truck I might because of I do buy a Tacoma I'll prob ended up keeping it for a while. I had TA KO's on my old Tacoma and loved those, maybe I'll go back to those

We take goodyears off of Cadillacs all the time due to their piss poor ride.

They are terrible. What I don't get is you buy a f150 fx4 their off-road edition and they put SRA's on it. Junk. The dualers Chevy used to run were better. I'm not expecting a set of Mickey thompsons or something but give me something that's other than a all season highway tire

For those of you who suspect that the vibration is in the Goodyear tires, you don't understand the symptom. It is like holding an electric razor in each hand. Also, I changed out the tires from my old Tacoma, which had almost new Cooper tires. No change. Vibration identical. It has to be an out-of-balance bearing, gear, etc. Unfortunately Toyota don't seem to care. I plan to report to Consumer Reports. I hope others do the same.

This weekend I was driving through some steep windy mountains....while in 2nd gear (manual transmission) under load around 3-4K RPM a buzzing/rattling noise kept fading in and out. It sounded like it was coming from the steering column or from behind the lower dash just under the steering wheel. This was definitely not a driveline or tire issue because it was engine speed/load related, and just an audible annoyance rather than a vibration that could be felt. Anyway maybe I'm in the wrong thread since most here are talking vibration, but if anyone has experienced this engine speed/load vibe/rattle, let me know. I emailed Toyota as well.

Maybe I should take my truck to Toyota and tell them I have no buzzing/vibrating in the steering wheel and I want it? Kinda joking but kinda not. If the op's truck is buzzing his hands and it's performing the way it was designed, then my truck is not performing the way it was designed! Unless Toyota had a hand buzzing/vibrating option that I missed:rolleyes:

Was it a windy day? The control arm holes I suspect were making a noise and vibrating everytime a strong wind went by on the highway? Sound like blowing over a glass coke bottle.
