I got my speeds back down to 70ish on highways. I was averaging 25 mpg for awhile going keeping at 75, but now I am back to getting 27-28. On a commute to San Diego which was about 240 miles round trip that I did for 2 days (pretty much the entire tank) I got 29 MPG average.

This was all interstate miles. I think I could have gotten 500 miles from that tank but I arrived at my destination.

If they were truly legit, they'd do some serious testing with standardized test loops that are available to any manufacturer and give us real evidence if it were true.

That they don't, it tells me it's just another snake oil scam with testimonial BS.

In other news, it's been 3 months since I last filled up because I've been walking to work, but I drove from Boulder down to the 1st Bank Center 20 miles down the road to see WEEN's first show in over 4 years and they fucking crushed it beyond words.

I pulled off 32.2 mpg round trip, and will do even better traveling again to WEEN tonight.

    Still above 1/2 tank.

Few scangauge shots from my drive down to Denver today.

High of 75, can't beat that in mid February, no proof of global warming don't get me wrong. :bananadead:

Tank, not great since it's winter but I'm only a little under 1/2 tank since November. Might get above 30 for the whole tank.

Worst tank ever finished this week. 237.5 miles using 14.76 gallons for an avg of 16.1 mpg.

Five mile trips, freezing weather, and some rather unusual recovery work. Did you know a Saturn Ion has its air intake routed through the fender liner by the tire so if the car hits any major puddles the thing chokes to death on an overdose of dihydrogen monoxide? I didn't, but I do now. Rods all bent...

Nice tank Mike, just under your best.

I still haven't gassed up since last November, I've only driven to work once since then. If I keep this up I'm going to be changing oil once a year at 1000 miles or less.

Okay finally gassed up this weekend, 494 miles on 18.582 for 26.6 mpg. 6 months between fillups.

Since last fillup Cleanmpg.com updated their website and failed so far to update the database that I tracked my mpg. Still have my data on an excel spreadsheet.

    Hey Worthwads,
I have a 2.4l 5lug extended cab 2003 with a camper shell. I drive near sea level and use Chevron Californicated 91 octane.

My best ever tank was 26.5 with mostly freeway driving at 60-63 mph. I have the original size 205 75 15 tires.

I watch the scan gauge while I drive, coast when I can, and use my cruise control almost all the time. Above 65 MPH, the fuel consumption goes up rapidly.

Is the 2.7l really that much more efficient than the old 2.4?

How the hell do you get those mpg numbers?

    Please share some secrets.

Your camper isn't helping, and 91 isn't either.

Mile high altitude helps, at 60 I'll get anywhere from 28-36 depending on wind, direction. At sea level it's more like 24-28.

My last few fill ups have been between 23 and 24 MPG.

Don't use 91 octane unless the owners manual tells you. If you get knocking/pinging/pre igniting then stay with the higher octane.

Yeah my camper shell is high profile so it doesn't help slicing through the air.

The owner's manual says 91 RON or 87, so I will give 87 a try.

Am I just burning money with 91 at the pump or is there a benefit to the lower octane rated gas?

    In Cali, I can get 91, 89, or 87.

My tires are toast so I am going with 205/75/15 GoodYear assurance. They only weigh 20 lbs and can handle 35 psi with no problem.

At 60 mph, I can get 28-32 with no wind on a level stretch of road. It is hard to maintain 65 mph around here with all the bozos texting and playing around with their iphones.

I read that the amount of good 91 octane is doing isn't worth the amount of money your spending per fill up think they said your spending 500$ more than you ever need to at the pump the only place that has good enough gas to run 91 octane is 76station is proven better gas and has detergents in it , the federal government has a law saying that gas must have a certain number of detergents (no idea what scale they use but let's go with percent) there supposed to have 15% of detergents in there gas, no one has the job to check out the gas people are supplying , that being said most pumps only hav 3% detergent in there fuel 76 has something like 6% detergints are what clean your engine and they DO Work it's proven but like I said there's no one to check up on the fuel we buy pretty much

If your going to go up the grape vine of suggest going to 76 and filling up with 91 regular driving just fill up with 87 i fill 89 only because I had a truck that would ONLY RUN ON 91 it'd die on the highway if I filled 89-87 so I've just gotten used to it

Over the last 29,792 miles in my 2011 2.7L Tacoma I'm getting 18.1 Average. The topper, ARB front bumper and roof lights pretty much give it the aerodynamics of a refrigerator box but I still love it.
