MTR comes in a D rating
STT Pro is a E rating

based on that, MTR is only an 8ply vs STT Pro being a 10ply

both have 3ply side walls...one has kevlar, the other armortek carcass design...

    if you're concerned on sidewall, i'd not go MTP...only a 2ply

I really can't tell what he's hung up on. Sounds like the Pro would be good for his wheeling.

I say fuck it cause tires are everything when it comes to wheeling.

MTR vs STT Pro is a good debate to have...two of my favorite tires...MTR was amazing off road but i put too many miles on my truck to spend that much coin on a tire to have it have half the life of an STT..especially when performance is not that far behind off road for the STT...one's a stickier compound than the other, but that's also why the tread life varies so much

if i had a DD i'd be rocking the Interco TrXus probably

but for an all around tire that can stand up to some serious wheeling, the Pro will be my choice for a while

I'd put the STT PRO next to the Toyo MT
(But leave out the weight and price part)

    :)

had to share my morning scare....

first off, it's finally getting cold up here...the morning was single digits with wind chills -10ish...to set the mood

so truck warmed up, ready to head to work...hop in, start to back up...

so i have to back out of my driveway and back into the road then pull ahead....so back up, turn passenger and "crunch crunch vibration truck not happy" what the fuck?!

look down see ABS light on for some reason?! what the fuck, did my brake freeze up and fuck shit up?!!!

then i look up a bit and see my diff light on...hmmm, well that's weird...yup somehow hit my diff lock when fucking around with my phone mount on my vent above the button...

well shit...this sucks...that could be an axle or gears!!!!!!!!!!!!! fuck me...not a good start to the day or end to the week...

disengage, pull forward, lights go out....ok well that's a start...

forward, backward, forward, backward to make sure it's disengaged...

well let's try that again...backup, turn, "crunch crunch vibration truck not happy" what the mother fuck shit fuck damn?!!!!!!

not what i want to deal with in cold weather and even colder weather coming this weekend!!! (-30* wind chills expected tomorrow!)

so park, get the jack and stands, chalk the tires, lift the axle, put on stands...let's see what's up...

put it in gear, get the tires rotating, both rolling quite well....hmmmm

hop back in, diff lock on diff lock off.... both still rolling...put my hand on the sidewall to slow one down, and finally able to disengage the locker...driver side slowing down, passenger still rocking and rolling...try the other side, passenger side slow down, driver side still rolling...

pop my head under there and put my ear to the pumpkin, quiet as the night... :woot:

so hoping nothing long-term was effected by this, but for now things are working fine again...must not have done enough to disengage the locker in my driveway after turning off the locker..

so word of advice for those with the locker mod...be careful around that button...this is my first real scare in many years of having this mod, but it was a slap of reality of why there are limitations from the factory on when to apply a locker...would i do the mod again..well of course

i think i'll move my switch over tho so it's not under my vent directly...it'll actually line up right above my front locker, so that'll work out nicely...

    anyway..... carry on :pccoffee:

A small handful of select mods.
So that is why Toyota doesn't let you engage the locker in anything but 4 low. It's a safety thing ;)
