You guys are trying to make sure that I get a divorce aren't you. I'm chomping at the bit to start modding, but everything in due time. I've not had a truck payment in about 12 years so I'm still getting used to being in debt again!!

I hate being in debt. As for getting a divorce.. never. I know how it goes. I just was able to convince my wife of my need for sliders. Every so often I get lucky and she says yes to something for the truck.

Looks good. What brand did you get? Does the quality appear ok?

You can get a coleman from Amazon for like $50 for a 4 person. I used it on my last trip and was very content with it.

Easy to set up? Does it keep you dry?

Very easy setup. Just two poles and the rainfly with elastic/clips. Maybe 5 mins in tent setup.

It kept us dry from any morning dew, but it never rained so didnt experience that.

I have had the same one for 10 years and it has been a good tent. The poles lost their elastic a few years ago so there is that. The rainfly works but not great. Any wind blown rain and the inside got wet.

I'm going to be trying to sleep in the bed of my truck for the first time. I ordered a cot to keep it a little more comfortable but my main concern at this point is being too hot. I have a Goal Zero with a fan so hopefully I'll be good.

It's an ALPS Mountaineering Galaxy 2. ALPS is one of my main go to brands. I have a self inflating sleeping pad from them along with a chair and a few other accessories. All their stuff has been quality in my eyes. Well for the price at least. There was no way I was spending $400+ on a tent for what will probably be used this one trip. REI is having a close out on this model (2013-2014 I think) and I got it for $160. I'll be ordering the footprint as well because I forgot it the first time.

Most people would agree. It just depends what you like. Being that the average temps in the Ozark Mountains is 60-80 during the time we're going to be there, I wanted a very open tent. Since more than likely the rain fly won't be necessary, I want to be able to leave it off and get good airflow (and sky visibility). That Coleman seems like a fine tent and I'll probably by one soon as a loaner tent. I just wouldn't prefer it for this situation.

yeah, I see what you mean. I just can't afford a $150 tent to use once and then stick in a closet for a long time until I do another trip. Hell I could buy, break, and replace 3 of those $50 ones for the same price. All about the short term cost for the college budget!
