I'm looking for a way to convert my factory clock (01-04 Tacoma) from orange/Amber to white if possible. I haven't really seen anybody do this yet. I've seen people put other types of clocks in, switches, ect... But no color change. On the 4Runner forums they take their green clock and make it white (and other colors) with the help of certain films.

I took my clock apart and noticed that it is greenish without the Amber faceplate cover. Any ideas or thoughts? I actually kind of enjoy having a clock so I don't necessarily want to get rid of it but I'm converting to white dash lights and want the orange gone! Thanks in advance.

I believe the LED's are actually that color. But I've never taken one apart. Take it out and see if there is a green covering it and changing it's color like the lights in your dashboard.

The clock lights are greenish and it's cover is amber. Only possible solution I can think of is making my own cover that is not amber but that would be a lot of work

not really anything you can do to change it.

you could swap it out for an older used green version but most aftermarket stereos have clocks now so just do what I did and take it out and sell it. then replace it with the blank dash cover trim. I sold my clock and trim piece on ebay for $50 to get a quick sale and some even sell them as high as $75.

if your wondering, you cannot buy the green version clock new any more, they only sell the orange ones.

I have seen people just unplug it and it pretty much looks the same as the blank dash cover and then others I have seen will swap out to the blank dash cover and add their own clocks to it by making a cutout for it and gluing in an after market digital clock to it. but I think its silly to do all that work just for a clock you cant really see well anyway.

I guess I'll jump on the band wagon and buy a blank trim piece and put rocker switches or something there. Always looks weird to me though. Where can I get a blank trim piece?

people try to sell them for $ but you can find them at salvage yards for free (like I did) or just a dollar or two but it sometimes takes a little looking to find them. you can try here and get one http://www.car-part.com/index.htm

I wouldn't pay more then $10 for one but have seen people buy them used for $40-$45 before so to each his own as to what they are worth.

There was a writeup someone did that plugged a digital voltage meter into the charging system using the clock housing and front screen. Maybe you can use that?.
