Glad I saw this thread. I haven't taken delivery of my Tacoma yet, so that will be the first thing I do when I get it in the garage on D-Day.

Just found pieces of my front u-joint and driveshaft on the ground. Had plenty of grease.....

One of the pices I found has e-coat inside the crack.... lots of rust too, more than I would have expected.

Might want the check the ends of the driveshaft very closely when adding additional grease. Also found cracks around the snap-ring groove.

BTW, very good seal design on the Spicer u-joint. Two piece double lip design with outer cover (blue piece). Oozing grease out of this seal might be a bad thing...

    Damn...
    Stock suspension?
What mileage and kind of use prior to greasing them the first time?
What mileage and kind of use prior to failure?
    Any water/snow submersions? Salted roads?
    What grease did you use?
    Can you post pics?

No, he was just pointing out that you called her "sweetie". If you know her, that's cool, but in general a little more respect should be shown

Well hell, I'm so sorry!!!!!!. I did not mean to offend you "nyjetgrl"... I certainly hope I didn't....If I did, I apologize.... I'm just an old fart and can't keep up with all the "politically correct" stuff, I guess...

    Again..I apologize "nyjetgrl"..

I guess it also depends where you grew up/lived/been etc...In a lot of places in the south or a southern women, typically call you "hon" or "sweetie". I found it weird at first and still some places Ive gone with my wife a woman says "hon" or "sweetie" I get a little embarrassed but its not typically offensive.

I moved out of the city and into farm country to find that friendliness, actually. It's not as common as I had hoped, but it's still around. I think on the internet a lot is assumed and the assumption was that you were being a bit "too friendly"... but all is good. No harm done :)

    Checked my U-Joints...
All 5 needed about 3-5 pumps before I felt any resistance and heard air bubbles escaping.
Black grease and this weird, thin reddish-pink grease came out before my red lithium did.
Glad I got it done... thankful for this site!

The pink was probably part of your red lithium that had separated.

It's true, most cheap u-joints don't have grease zerks.

Still doesn't make them suck less :)

They also charged me an extra $5 "labor fee" for using synthetic oil for an oil change. This was after the synthetic oil materials upcharge...
