Got the ARE LSII installed yesterday. More expensive than the tri-folds, but probably more secure and weatherproof as well. All depends on what you're lookin' for in a cover.

No, but the rivets sheer off the brackets and the ABS plastic cracks around the mounts

heres a few on one I just had come back about ago ago. Notice the corrosion, and the cracking. Undercover told me to drill the old rivets out and re-rivet. Impossible. The rivets grab to a metal washer that's set inside the injection mold. Plus with the cracks the structure is compromised, unfortunelty for the customer, he needs a new cover

For how much those covers are you would think they would hold up better. I believe their warranty is only 1 year, we offer 3yr purchased with a new vehicle, unfortunelty for him he was outside our 3 year warranty. I was going to attempt to repair it but unfortunately there's really nothing I can do

Yep, buffalo area. I have a trifecta that I leave close all winter and even my corner brackets on that are starting to corrode a little after. Almost 3 years. The salt just finds its way in. My buddies undercover flex the screws sheared off of that and the one rear latch was sticking. Even spraying it with lube didn't help. They did send him 2 new replacement rails and a latch kit since it was under manufactures warranty, but they originally wanted me to drill and retap the threads using better screws. Don't know why they just don't use hi quality hardware to begin with

I've never installed a x2 not sure if we have carried them before. Can't say for sure how they are. I like the Bak flip, basically the same as a undercover flex but a little more expensive. They seem to hold up better in my opinion.

I usually don't recommend roll up covers unless they are manual. The motorized or spring tensioner ones around here never hold up. Didn't really read up on the x2 but it seems to be a manual one I believe?

I'm in Michigan, so rust is a problem with everything here it seems ... I will wash my vehicle and treat it regularly with rust inhibitor, and in the summer I'll go through the wheel wells and undercarriage to treat any surface rust that springs up (wire wheel, primer, and then some undercoating ... I might use some of this new Eastwood stuff in the future). Does the Undercover hardware rust because it isn't stainless, because people don't maintain it, or what? Also, what would you recommend as an alternative that is a similar design?

Still waiting for LEER to deliver my Trilogy Tri-fold. I hear they're now shipping long bed 2016 models and should have the 2016 short beds models very, very soon. Considering the problems some people had with Extang or Bak I'm hoping the wait is worth it. Since I've already paid I really hope it's soon.

I put on a Truckcoversusa retractable cover and am very pleased with it. Retracts in a small 8x8" container, very sturdy, opens and closes smoothly, and I got mine with Yakima tracks on it so I could mount a rack system.

@Toynado: What did the retractable cover set you back and how easy was it to install? Anything you run into you would do differently? Thinking about the same cover.

Well it wasn't cheap but I believe you get what you pay for and I plan to keep my truck for a long time so I wanted an equally durable & functional cover. Instal was very easy. Nope, I wouldn't change a thing.

Can you get another pic from a different angle? Curious about your spare tire arrangement. I like this setup because I am interested in getting a rooftop tent, but would prefer to put it over the bed. Wondering if Yakima racks could adequately disperse the weight.

As it is I don't think it could take the weight of a tent. The cover will take 500 lbs evenly dispersed but not so sure how much weight focused on four points. The Yakima tracks sit on top of the slats which are attached to the canister and two points on the rail on each side. However, it would be fairly easy to fabricate "braces" between where the longer bar that sticks out past the Yakima tower and the actual side of the truck bed. Then all the weight would be dispersed out to those points. If that makes sense.

One thing I really like is how quickly the whole rack can be detached if I need to haul something. Takes less than 5 min.

One last question regarding the Truck Cover retractable: Does it leave the side bed rails open to be used?
