Hello all. My apologies in advance if this has already been addressed in another thread but i could not locate one..

My 2016 Tacoma dashboard seems to be very dark during the day. The control switch is set to "auto" and the outside lights come on and off just fine when external conditions dictate they should. When the lights come on, the dash illuminates a very easy on the eyes, light blue that is clear and crisp. During the day with the lights off however, the gauge control cluster is very dark and has no back-lighting. All of my other vehicles (2015 Mustang GT, 2016 Subaru Forrester and until I recently bought the Tacoma, a 2015 F-150 was my truck) have back-lit gauge clusters during the day in a very bright white so they can be seen in the sunlight. I am actually wondering if there is a problem with my Tacoma or if Toyota just missed the mark with this detail and did not include daytime gauge cluster back-lighting... Anybody have any insight on this?

I noticed that too, but the lettering is white so it's ok for me. If it's dark enough to where I couldn't see it, I'd want the lights on anyways. The speed shows up in the center and that's all I really need. The brightness of that screen can be adjusted with the twist knob.

To answer your question, that's how it was designed. Nothing "wrong" with your truck.

Thanks DT. I appreciate the answer. Glad to know that there is nothing wrong with it!
