I can't think of a realistic/everday situation in which you'd be having to use a lightbar and listening to head-throbbing music at the same time.
But yes, the alternator can put out enough amperage to supply that setup. The battery alone(engine off) might struggle.

maybe not every day, but wanting to take a nice stroll through the woods/mountains would be enough I'd say.

if youre worried, look into the chevy alternator swap. from 80 amps to 110-140

search the forums, im not 100% on how it's done. youll find something more specific. but its a common design used from 1960-2000. take this one for example. youll have to modify the alternator connector and the adjuster arm, but it can be easily done. there are several writeups that ive come across here.

heres a pic of my alternator and the one in the link. they're very similar mounting wise. youll have to add some washers to keep the chevy alternator from sliding as well. youll also probalby have to swap the pulleys.

As a veteran car audio installer GET A CAPACITOR if you're going to be running any high wattage systems 500W+. You don't want to have your LED's and Headlights dim to the beat as your going down the road/trail. Otherwise you're good to go.

Well a cap charges and discharges quickly so it wouldn't help much with these devices. It basically just acts as a power buffer, I think a good optima battery would benefit these more than a Cap.

yellow optima to be precise. theyre deep cell and pack a lot of juice. you may even go with a dual battery setup. just good luck on finding a place for a second battery. . and this

it may even be possible to put an intake setup in your truck and use the extra space for the secondary battery.

I already have a badass AGM. Just thinking about options for keeping my CB interference free, a capacitor would do the trick.

hehe. all you need is the old style radio capacitor :) pre 95 vehicles would have these on the alternator so the radio wouldn't play that whining noise coming from it powering the system. you should be able to hook one up to the power in on the CB and be set.

Toyota offers a higer output alt if you weren't aware. Not sure of the output, but might be worth lookin into. Also good ole @BamaToy1997 offers three different high output alternators that are a direct fit at what i feel to be very good prices. He has that badass wiring upgrade to safely accommodate the new power as well. Its a sweet setup, cleans up a lil wiring under the hood, has multiple variations of the kit for your specific needs and it too is awesomely priced!

Yep you should be fine. But once you start adding more lights, it may become an issue. At the moment all I have is my 42" and 20" (some are disconnected/being replaced with others), 380 watts total, along with my amp (can't remember what my amp is, 1500 watt I think) and single 12 sub, and it struggles when I blast it. Especially at idle. Few times very shortly after coming to a stop, the lights started to pulse. So I know not to blast it when I'm putting around on a trail, and certainly not while stopped.

This beast, 130 idle amps. I have About 660 watts total in lights. And will be needing a second battery. I'm hoping this alt will still be able to keep up, heh. Certainly will not be able to turn the radio up at all until I get a second battery.

    OP,
The GM alternator model is CS144. I did it and went back to a high output Toyota alt. I don't recommend it the swap.

Check out Boyles for alternators also.

    Good luck.
