Hey guys I am here to help my friend who is not very internet/forum savvy. He owns a 08 Toyota Prerunner 2x4 truck, 4.0L, Auto Trans. Not lifted. It has 99k miles on it.

The issue: It has a small - moderate vibration (two different vibrations that show up with no pattern either small vibration or a moderate vibration) at low engine rpm in 3rd and 4th gears. If he hits the accelerator the vibration goes away.

What exactly causes this? What is the fix?

We checked the trans fluid, fluid is level and we re-added the extra 1/3 qt as recommended.

Thanks for any advice you can give us.

With that many miles I would first be checking the universal joints in the drive shaft.

is the check engine light on?
i would also check the spark plugs and coils. could be dropping out a cylinder under a load.
