    Good morning folks!

OK....Get to do what I'm (supposedly) best at this morning.....I get to be a CARPENTER! Got 10 doors to hang. Love me some sawdust!

36 degrees, light drizzle, HEAVY fog. Walked out this morning to start my truck and almost couldn't find the house!

Morning, All ! Two hour delay this morning. Warmer temps and rain came a bit later then the weather folks predicted so still a thick layer of ice on everything. Now it's 37 and raining, should take care of it in short order. Nice little warm up coming over the foreseeable future. Of course, the weather folks could get that wrong too.

    Good Morning

Vacation over, back on shift tonight. All this weather talk, and I returned from PHX to a 46°F high here yesterday ... didn't snow any while we were gone either ... there's definitely some kind of climate change happening.

I've stuck with that size 'cuz 4cyl ... run LTs in Summer to avoid cutting one down on gravel roads.

My favorite burger is the patty melt from local joint, once or twice a month, with side of fried okra.

Sorry about the injury ... awesome pics!

We're getting it today. 8-10" this morning, and at least a foot outside now. Trip in to work was fun, what with all the ID10T types.

    Today's agenda;
1.) Breakfast and safety seminar with our liability insurance provider @ 8AM.
    2.) Managers meeting @ 11AM
3.) Annual job review with my boss @ 1PM.
    Then home.......

All 3 things are a total waste of my time. All 3 will accomplish nothing. I hope the breakfast is decent.

    Happy happy joy joy....

I can relate, we have a lot of meetings and such. Most of the time the info explained could have been put in a memo!

Safety meeting is a bore......Topic is "Spotting drug abuse in the work place".

I've never seen the likes of all the meetings we have now days. I've been in more in the last 8 months than the entire 26 years leading up to this point. As long as the numbers look good and we're having plenty of meetings, it's totally irrelevant if we're actually accomplishing anything or not. The boss is an accountant. He's into his "Numbies"....... Personally, I think he needs to listen to the subject matter in the safety meeting.......

"Meetings, where the minutes are kept and the hours wasted."

So glad I can afford to be a technician/worker for my second career, as I no longer believe I have the patience for management and meetings ... not sure I ever did, just faked it to the best of my ability. ;)

Yep... I don't miss being a manager at all. I started supervising when I was 21 years old and when I left the USAF, I had 270-some subordinates. Came to my current job and started managing after just 8 months but switched jobs a few years later. Every time they ask me if I'm interested in going back to mgt, I gave a firm, NO Thanks! Besides the pains in the ass involved, I would lose the ability to earn OT pay and would not have an increase in my salary. Why in the world would I want that ?!

That's all I have ever done.....My first job was working for my fathers construction business. He made me a supervisor from day one. Didn't always carry a lot of credibility when I was 17.....but I tried. Then I had a couple other jobs where I was made "dept head", "supervisor", etc.....Followed by a few years where I owned my own business. That may have been the only time I DIDN'T seem to have any authority....

Then, 26+ years ago, I took this job, THINKING I was just going to be a carpenter/maintenance man. 2 days in I was informed I was the "super".....If I wrote my own job description, it would say I'm the SCAPEGOAT....

A quick lunch, then the managers meeting is next

 Good morning all. We may actually have a few days without rain or snow here. Only 50 degrees here and mostly cloudy. Actually saw the sun yesterday and it got all the way to 60 in the afternoon. We need a few dry days, my back yard is like a swamp.

    Good Day!
The girls (my lovely wife and 2 daughters) are gonna be home this evening from a long weekend trip in Canada with the in-laws.
I gotta clean the house and do the dishes. I hate being a temporary bachelor.
No food, no noise, no last minute rush to drive someone somewhere (girls are teenagers.)
