Right now I have a whip antenna but it's been getting on my nerves because it's so long. I've been looking at the firestiks as an alternative. How do they work compared to the whip antenna.

Used to have one both as a mobile and as a base worked perfectly. Takes a little to get the SWRs in balance but after that they work.

I've had firestik antennas on my trucks for years with good performance. They are more than adequate for CB radios that don't have a very long range anyway. Most of the time the CBs are used to communicate on trail rides where your group is relatively close together. The firestik works fine and has good performance. If you need longer range you should be looking at 2M/Ham radios anywhere with a different type of antenna, but for CBs the firestik is fine.
