I guess everyone is different. There are many documented cases of physical dependence being so great that the only safe way to detox is to continually regulate and monitor smaller doses with less frequency until the body is able to survive and thrive drug free. It's one of the most addictive and deadly drugs readily available anywhere.

I'm sure it's not the same for everyone. I don't know how much my friend used and I didn't know him when he quit. Cigs are easier to get than heroin too and don't carry the same legal implications so that could make it easier to quit heroin.

 I will. It's definitely easier now that I've been quit for a while. I don't crave one immediately after eating, waking up, etc.

I'm not at the gagging point yet, but I will be all in good time.

Not sure if this belongs here or not? Maybe it could help/motivate someone?

Going on 16 days with out a dip of snuff. Cold turkey & what a bitch its been. Nicotine gum/regular gum has helped immensely.

Physical cravings come & go as expected & everday gets better. The mental side of it is what I struggle with.

Watching sports-I had a chew, Video games- I had a chew, Driving- spit cup was in reach & etc etc. I have found mint leaf chew helps a lot, just the taste is horrid. Bleh..

I recently got back in the Gym so that will only help as well.

Fwiw I used smokeless tobacco for 20+yrs.

Good luck to all that are trying to kick the Nicotine addiction. Im right there with you.

I think it definitely belongs, after all its the same chemicals being introduced into your body irregardless of the route.

Well, today marks 4 years free from cigs. Hang in there anybody in the process or thinking of quitting. It gets much easier with time, and is by far the best thing I have done for my health and my family.

5 1/2 years ago I quit cigs cold turkey. Here's how I did it. Oh and my wife was pregnant at the time. I woke up one morning and said I was done. Then I spent the next 7 days (I was on vacation) playing PS3. Then back to work and when I finished my shift I went home and played games till I went to bed this continued for another two weeks. I just kept busy and chewed a lot of gum. Distract yourself however you can. After three weeks most of the cravings were gone and edginess too.
