I purchased a 2016 Tacoma and want to turn off the seat belt chime. It is a TRD Sport Long Bed with a Push Button Start. I have tried tips I found for the 2008-2015 and it will not work on this baby, can anyone please help me because as you know it will drive you crazy, now I admit in my case it is a short trip but I want to remain semi sane as long as I can. Thanks to any and all who can help.

3rd gen is not as easy to disable as the 2nd gen. But I've read you can ask your dealer, and they'll hook up their fancy computer thingy (that's the technical term) and turn it off for you.

Yes, the dealer can do it. They need to hook up the Toyota Tech Stream program to your truck via the OBDII port under your dash.

Pretty quick and painless if the tech has experience.

FWI: All my Toyota vehicles have the seat belt chime turned off. Its the 1st mod I do. That fucker is brain piercing loud. For some reason, I never forget to wear my seat belt. I must be special to not need an annoying noise to remind me.

You can cutoff the end of another seatbelt and stick it in.

^^^This. i too had the dealer disable mine. there are many members who've had it done for good reason----working in a field, constantly stopping, working on the truck in the garage, or such as myself patrolling campus grounds at less than 20mph.....
yet never do i forget to wear it when entering traffic.

That how I take care of my own. It works pretty good if you have some computer skills. I don't, it took me a long time to figure out how to use it.

Before I got my truck in NOV 2004, I asked them to make sure it didn't beep in the inside or on the outside. Either the very 1st 2nd Gens didn't beep or the dealer obliged. Idiot lights are bearable....idiot beeps/chimes ARE NOT.
