As I was Installing nerf bars last night I started looking around and I really think it might be exhaust resonance... The left exhaust and catylitic converter pass very close to the steering shaft and also the firewall/floorboard right at the accelerator..

So if that's the case then no cat-back exhaust would improve it...but if I had some type heat shield/ noise isolation material, I would lay up and insulator the floorboard more and see what happens..there is some aluminum heat shield there so maybe it's vibrating and exaggerating the problem!.. It's very hard to diagnose without say a dyno to run it on..frustrating.

I am 50/50. It is not unbearable and can be overlooked but just disappointing.

hopefully something will come of all of this.!

    ^^^ This.

Same here. Not buying until this is resolved. Patiently waiting. Growing tired and looking elsewhere.

Is there a room to weld a flex section or even a small resonator? It should change the resonant characteristic of the exhaust and hopefully fix the issue (or make it worse).

Rather invasive thing to try, so I doubt there will be any takers for the idea.

70,000 miles no vibrations except when some one other than my self balances the tires don't know why they can't balance them I don't think they can deal with the wide centers.

The results of this poll are not valid. Your poll question was far too vague. Some platforms are not prone to these vibration issues, therefore the results are statistically meaningless. I am assuming you are asking the percentage of 3.5l v6 Tacomas that have vibrations. If this was the intent, the occurrence of vibrations will be under reported as a percentage.

This may be obvious and I don't see it but why the rage ?

There's no real information in that post...how did it fail him in the snow season?.. Too many unknwons and too many different types of drivers..am I over looking something?

No clue and I honestly don't care. I was looking for Tacoma parts at CL and this came up. I found it entertaining and thought I'd share. The recent snow storm he's taking about was a 30 inch snow storm. Probably a rookie.

So it hadnt crossed my mind to check in with other engineers I went to school with until I saw a Facebook post from another engineer that works at Toyota Power train Division. Waiting for a response from him.

Thanks for sharing, and it makes sense, I just wonder why it didn't pop up right from the get go? I wonder if it also needed to be broken in for the vibration to start showing its ugly head? Do you have a pic of the pump and exactly where is it located on the motor? If it was accessible, I'd like to see if I could get a hold of it and see if in fact the buzziness quasi matches what I feel in the steering wheel and gas pedal.

I insulated it with no luck.. Unfortunately..he has gone back to the drawing board and will let me know.

It is located top of motor, rear-right. Denso part number. Looks like any other high pressure fuel pump (Google).

Have had transmission issues since day one. Have 6500 miles on it to date. Truck lurches which makes me take extreme care when pulling into the garage or when pulling up close to something. Shift schedule really sucks. It's funny how when in cruise, I can't slightly accelerate and instead of downshifting to a higher rpm, it shifts to a higher gear, lower rpm. I don't have the vibration issue. I'm gonna try the dealer again to see if they will check the transmission fluid. In previous attempts they wouldn't unless I paid.
