DC Rear Dome Light

Can any of you turn only your rear dome light on in your double cab? I dont want any interior lights to come on when i open the door, i just want to be able to turn on the rear dome light when i am looking for something in the back. Is this possible or is mine just broken. There is literally no way for me to simply turn on the rear dome and nothing else

 

Not that I'm aware of. Pardon me for saying so but that sounds like only wanting to use one headlight. I suppose you could disable the others by removing bulbs and/or fuses or having a switch installed. The "Dome Light Only" mod may not be popular but it will be a first on TW. Good luck man.

 

I am a photographer and shoot at night alot so i try to keep lights from the vehicle at a minimum. I store gear on the rear seats and when I need to go back there to look for something a little light from the rear dome would be great. My old access cab allowed me to just turn on the rear dome. Just was not sure if mine was brokenm or if that just the way it works in the DC.

 

Is there not a "Door Off ON" switch like in the 2nd gens?

 

I think there is only a "DOOR" and "ON" option, maybe an OFF but i don't remember. But, the "ON" option does not work unless i have the rocker switch by the map lights set to ON or DOOR, but I don't want the map lights on. Just want the damn rear dome on an nothing else, so annoying. Yeah my second gen worked great

 

I need to look again but now I'm thinking the dome and map lights just might work independently from each other. Look for the switches next to each set of lights. Now I understand your need. Thanx for the explanation.

Just keep it OFF and slide it to ON when you need it.

You can do that, just turn off the dome and bed lights, then turn on the dome light when needed.

 

on double cabs, the rear dome light is tied to the front map lights if I remember correctly. when I was installing the rear led, having the door open mean the light was on, only way I could get it to shut off was that I had to turn off the front map lights.

ie: if the front map lights are off, then the rear is off regardless, otherwise its "on" or "door".
