I was considering buying a 97 Ranger xlt 2wd. Nice truck in good shape, only 74,000 miles. When I crawled under the vehicle, I was thoroughly unimpressed by the flimsy- looking components.

Everything, particularly the suspension, just looked cheap, easily broken, and overly complicated. I lost interest in the purchase quickly. I guess I have been spoiled by the simple, sturdy design of my Tacoma.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Tacoma frames and stock suspension are pretty chintzy and flimsy as well.. Just sayin'! Haha, I'd much rather have a Ranger frame under my Taco than the frame they come with. I've worked on 20 year old Rangers that lived here in Montana their whole lives and got used hard as fencing trucks on large ranches that only had a few spots of surface rust on their frames. I know the Taco frame would never hold up to that neglect and abuse that's for sure!

The frame was pretty much rust free. I hate getting the stress shits every time I drive on treated roads.
