i replaced the ac button and that wasn't it the button had power in wondering does the ac have a relay? And where is it what's the part number. Summer is coming fast and I'm gonna be pretty upset if the compressor took a shit.

Usually if the Freon is low, it will not turn on.

Have the Freon checked 1st. It has a kill switch to make sure the compressor does not run when dry. Also you could have a leak somewhere.

yep it will still blow cold right up to where it stops running, most likely adding one can of Freon fixes things for most situations.

the weird part is it blows coldest right before it stops working because the lower the pressure gets the lower the tubing temperatures get so the more the coil freezes up making it feel colder even though its not cooling as well until it gets covered with ice and stops cooling altogether.

First test is to see if you have power at the compressor. Disconnect the lead and test it, not by watching the compressor.

If no power, you can disconnect the low pressure switch and jump it. If you now have power to the compressor plug, you know that either the system has low pressure (as suggested by others) or the switch itself has failed.

Your vehicle is almost 20. It's ok if you have to spend some bucks to tighten it up. There's a good chance you're still on the original Freon.

R134a was required starting in '94, so that's what you have. You can buy that OTC and give it a charge yourself. However, if you have a friend with some gauges, it's better to do the charge that way, so you don't overcharge.

If it fails again quickly after a recharge, you'll have a repair to make somewhere. An injectable dye is a good way to find the leak point(s). The only one you won't be able to easily see is the in dash components.

If the system has to be opened to replace parts, have a pro do it. While the work may (or may not) be easy, the pulling of vacuum on the system, the reoiling of the system and the recharging of the system should be done by someone who knows what they are doing and have the proper tools.

And yes, if the system is opened, the accumulator needs to be replaced as part of the work, even if it's not part of the problem.

In the condenser or in a line to the condenser?

at least you know what it is now, was it the line or the condenser? sometimes you can catch a rock or road debris that knocks a hole in the condenser.

as mentioned after the leak has been fixed, replace that canister on the side of the condenser and pull a good long vacuum before refilling with Freon. that canister is a receiver drier that removes excess moisture from the system as well as a filter to trap anything that might clog up your expansion valve.
