Just got my 2007 V6 Access Cab 4x4 Taco. STOKED to join the club :)

She has 130K... the shocks now are "OK" but figure I might as well enjoy new ones since I plan to run this truck for a long time. I don't intend to lift or do any significant off roading. Im a rock/mountain climber and sometimes venture off the beaten path. Certainly see myself on many forest roads and some sandy paths in the Utah desert to get to climbing and canyoning destinations. That said, I will be putting on a LOT of highway miles.

She has a canopy, which I plan to keep on it most of the time, and I will have a little bit of a camping build-out in the back, adding I'm guessing ~200lbs... id probably take it out when I know Im not using it for a while. But I do plan on a couple ~4-5wk road trips this summer and guessing it will all stay in there 75% of the time. Thank God gas is cheap right now.

I plan to run stock 16" wheels/tires... current tires (KO's) are dead so Im about to put on Nokian Roviia AT's (no debate here needed... price/mile is about the same as Defender LTX and these give me a snowflake to get me to the mountain to ski, and should handle the Utah mud a little better... but I dont want heavy KO's for the many highway miles).

So back to the question... I plan to (DYI) update the shocks. Since Im not adjusting the height what if any advantage is the 5100 vs 4600? Cost is very similar so I don't care much about that. Tho the 5160 does have different rear left/right spec and seems to cost >2X the 5100. This based on PN's from : http://cart.bilsteinus.com/search/mmid=190117/drivetype=4WD

Anything I should change beyond shocks (as far as suspension goes).

Sounds like I should do these before doing tires since I'll need an alignment.

Assuming I got 5100's, any reason to add a tick of height to account for the weight in the back?

    Thanks much!
    Jeremy
