Noted... Also, good to consider if you have any intention of putting a Mat in the bed... One should move the template up accordingly

One more thing to add. I ordered the Quick Latch mounts from Amp to replace the OEM ones that came on my truck. That way I could squeeze my ATV in the bed and not have to angle the extender to attach it with the ATV tires in the way. The mounting holes match perfectly and the OEM ones are through bolted. You simply have to remove the tail light (two bolts) to get to the nuts. I don't know about you guys but I'll take a nut and bolt over a sheet metal screw any day. These are the ones I got.

Axe, This is exactly the one I want to get for my 2016 Tacoma. Can you tell me the model number (is it a PT392-35000) and where you bought it and how much you paid?

    thanks,

These things are excellent! Very easy to install, and really make taking the bed extender in and out very simple. I needed these for when we load the back of the truck up with items to sell at the flea market.

Interesting. I got mine from AMP and it came assembled but with crappy sheet metal screws.

Stan: Can you provide an update on your installation? I also want to fit two sportbikes in my short bed. The 2016 bed is taller than previous models, so in turn the tailgate is longer. For my bikes, the extender would need to reach all the way to the very end of the tailgate in order to clear the rear motorcycle tires. According to AMP Research, they are still developing a product for the 2016s, and the current model will not be long enough to reach the end of the tailgate, and if custom fabricated to be longer would hit the wheelwells when folded in.

So, Did you get yours to work?

    Hi,

I actually sold my OEM extender prior to installing it. I got myself a ready ramp instead. Looking at your pics with the bike installed, it seems now that the OEM extender will NOT extend enough. The ready ramp is nice because it is somewhat adjustable in placement. I still have not used it with my bike though - but i'm sure it will work.

Side note, are you in the bay area as well? I used to race AFM - loved it. May come back someday when my daughter is more grown up.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    .
I need a bed extender ... had one on other trucks.

Just realized that I have a (new in the box) bed extender for a Tundra or Tacoma.

I believe that the same bed extender worked on Tundras and Tacoma's before 2015 (been a while & brackets could have been different).

I am wondering if my old (new in the box) bed extender (in storage unit) will fit the 2016 Tacoma??

Maybe with new mounting brackets, it will "kinda fit" ... anyone know for sure ?? ...

As far as I have read it will fit just fine...as long as you dont need to eek out every single inch of length on the tailgate like I do to fit motorcycles.
