Hey all :) Love my truck, no major complaints, really just wondering if anyone else feels the same thing I do.

When accelerating in any gear, specifically the lower gears as they are steep enough you can really tell, you can feel a very... very pronounced surge. The engine runs great, no weird noises, but it almost hits a powerband.... It's just strange it's so pronounced in such a large vehicle to me. It usually hits about 2000 to 2500 rpm, and since I have a manual, I'm betting that's why I can tell so well where an auto might shift prematurely, I usually shift just after 2500 rpm or 3k.

Love the truck, wouldn't trade her for the world. Just curious! She's all stock, no tire/wheel/lift changes.

Variable valve timing? Mine does the same. I like it a lot.

I used to feel so cool when I was 16 and could scratch pavement in my 81 Datsun diesel (85 hp). Not sure what the heads that turned were thinking :). Now I grandpa cruise. The thrill for me is ECT on the auto.

In my auto it surges around 3500-3800, feels like turbo, I like it.

To me it feels like there is a surge/stumble around 2500 rpm, pretty consistent in every gear, but it's easier to notice in 6th. This is with a manual and going partial throttle. Whatever, the thing still drives a billion times better than the 98 Rav4 I traded in ...

Probably the torque converter clutch locking and unlocking. The injection switch is around 3500rpm

Considering that OP has a manual, I doubt it's a torque convertor
