i've been a toyota owner since 1978. my tacoma xcab sits at the dealership waiting for a frame. it's been 2 months so far and i have a loaner. the body man says he doesn't know if they can reconnect the frame after they remove it. this is a new york truck that got the recall undercoating. i've contacted the toyota office in california twice to see if they will give me credit towards another vehicle, but all i hear is "our policy is to change the frame." this is going to cost toyota over 13k including the loaner. the last one cost over 17k at the dealership. doesn't anybody there have any common sense? i'm glad that i'm not a shareholder.

Toyota got a large settlement from Dana, the manufacturer of the frames. I'm sure all the money they pay out for frame replacements comes from that.

body is pretty thin all the way around. that's why he's not sure he can reassemble after he cuts the frame off.
