I ve been researching both of these tires, seems like a lot of great reviews on both of them. I have seen reviews on both of them where people complain about off-road traction/ride with on road tire pressures. Not sure if this is a question or a rant, but seriously who expects great traction and ride off road with air pressures over 30psi? For those of you happy with either of these tires off-road and on road what pressures do you use and what sizes are you running?

I generally run my 265/75/16 KO2's at ~16 PSI for wheeling, ~24 PSI for extended overland travel, and ~40 PSI for highway use.

Are you satisfied with your choice of tire? I am leaning towards the BFG KO2 in a 235/85/16 since I can get the for $600 out the door with trade of my Rugged Trails.

I know one person that runs street pressure offroad, their argument is that they don't have a big lift so they want the extra clearance. The minimal amount of clearance kept has not helped... They need a lift.

Truth! My engineer friends at CSU did a study on airing down vs clearance and they found that airing down didn't significantly effect diff clearance. I always air down.

I'm convinced that they're the best tires I've ever owned. They are an absolute tank of a tire. I've been shocked by their capability at 16 PSI. Far superior to any other tire I've owned, including the old KO's, and various mud terrains.

My truck is heavy when loaded for overlanding, and I've taken them over gravel, shale, and crushed rock at over 60 MPH at 24 PSI and have never had a puncture of any kind.

A 285 will fit in the stock location under the bed with slight modification to the mount.

Off road I air down to 15-16 with my ST Maxx, just logging roads or washboard roads and whatnot I'll go down to 22-25. I run 35 on the highway. I've run 32 and gas mileage suffered a bit.
