Lets say a vehicle in excellent condition, has 200k miles, it's worth $10,000 on KBB for excellent condition. The tires are getting near replacement, so you take it in and buy new tires for it that run $800.

You go to sell it. Because it has brand new tires on it, does that mean the KBB value goes up $800?

Absolutely not, and you live in La La Land if you think it does.

I never said that I would ever lie about what a vehicle needed done. Never. I just said I wouldn't post it all over the freaking ad.
Because routine maintenance isn't really something that needs to be disclosed. That's kind of common sense for the buyer. Just like I don't need to put on the add that it will eventually need more gas. If I was buying a truck that had 250K miles on it, I would ask when the last time the timing chain was done. Plus if someone is buying an old vehicle, they aren't worried about it needing some work. I'm assuming anyone with half a brain knows about the routine maintenance.

    Done with a stupid conversation.

Your whole philosophy is flawed right from the start. If the tires are near needing replacement, then the vehicle doesn't qualify for excellent condition, and already has a lower value to begin with.

When sellers don't disclose needed work up front, it usually means they're hoping to land a buyer who doesn't know any better to ask. Standard used car sales tactic that aggravates those that do know better, in an attempt to dupe those that don't.

I think this statement with the haha at the end was what @BrettBretterson had an issue with. You're making it seem like you're not going to tell a potential buyer that are issues that will need to be addressed. I understand some of what you are saying but your logic is flawed. If you have two identical vehicles but one needs tires then they are not the same price to a buyer. KBB doesn't account for a lot of things individually like needing tires. If Someone is looking for a new vehicle and the choice between one with new tires and one without of course the one with good tires is gonna sell first. Just be honest and pay it forward, I always try to be honest when I sell vehicles, I even answer questions down the road if they contact me. But hey do what you wanna do and I'll do what I do. To the OP looks like a nice truck, ask about the missing front rain visors, looks weird with only the rears on.

If someone asked me about what was previously done or what needed to be done, I would never lie.
I just wouldn't openly advertize certain things. My truck needs a new timing chain in 25k. Why would I put that in the ad?
That's all I'm saying. If someone asked when the last time it was done I would be honest.
I just felt the original ad made a fine truck look less appealing and for no good reason.

And again I mean routine things, like the ad said needs new brakes. We aren't talking things like a failing engine ir something.

If it helps I bought an impulse red DCSB right after frame swap, new wheel bearings, brake lines, leaf springs, rear shocks, LCA's and much more for $12k mileage at 155k. 10k so the price seems decent. Also mine was from a dealer.
