So those you taking trucks for usual maitenance at 5k, just ask them to also do oil hange at your expense? Since they only oil change at 10k.

No I'll take it in at 5k to get the tires rotated... then I'll come back at 10k and get the oil changed, per the owners manual.

I want to get a valve for my truck as well. What valve part number did you order? Did it fit? The Fumoto site does not have 2016 on it.

They are supposed to run in the engine. Is that why there is not a short first interval.

Just put my fumoto on the other day. Went without the nipple to minimize how much hangs down. I'll just give everyone a word of warning, beware when you pull the plug. I changed mine hot/warm and oil went everywhere. I do all my own maintainence on everything and it shot out like I've never seen. Make sure you elevate the pan as high as possible to minimize splatter.

'16 SR5 V6 took delivery on 12/23/15 (mfg. date 11/15 Texas). Changed the oil with Toyota OEM filter and Mobil 1 (0-20W) at 1K and will again at 5K and every 5K afterwards. Would NEVER let a dealer change the oil/filter even if free. One post even said the dealer didn't even remove the skid plate to get to the filter on his new truck. Many times the "new" guy or least experienced is the one at the dealership who does the oil changes. The more serious issues are given to the experienced techs.

Did my third at 1500 miles no more shiny metal at bottom of the pan or in the pleats of the cartridge filter. Next one at 5000 from now on. Here is a pic of the rear end change i did that's all metal I wiped bottom of pan there was plenty.

New engines shed oil. They'll sit in bottom of pan or if they circulate will be caught in filter. Congrats on wasting so many hours, dollars and gallons of resources.

Filters last a lot longer then that, and 3K oil changes are one thing and one thing only in this day and age... a waste of money and resources.

There a bunch of dudes with second gens that go as far as 10K and their engines have 200K+ miles. Yeah that sludge thing , well that was a problem like 20 years ago and not a modern engine issue, but preach it if ya want.

Manufacturers actually spend quite a bit of time and money figuring this stuff out. It's not just to sell you a lower cost of ownership. They don't assume you are buying a car every two years. They do this to reduce their risk for warranty work and not have people say their car is junk because the engine needs replacing after 100,000 miles.

    Seriously, just follow the manual.
