NO not that kind of tranny. I've read a lot of complaints about the new 6 speed transmission shifting a lot and having a truck on order its a little concerning. A little backstory...I currently have a 2012 tundra with a 6 speed which I will be trading for my Tacoma I have on order. I've never really paid too much attention to the shift behavior until today. I went on about a 30 mile drive on a two lane highway. I set my cruise on 62 mph and I noticed even on the slightest incline my tundra would downshift from 6th to 5th to 4th. It was a little windy but it would shift from 6th to 5th on many occasions on flat ground. Could the shift algorithm just be a Toyota thing? Who knows...just wanted to share my experience with another Toyota 6 speed.

It's a Toyota thing (the cruise control shifting) and thus why I've never used cruise on any Toyota I've ever had. The oft shifting while in drive is another story. It didn't really bother me much in the 6 cyl OR that I drove for awhile, and the 4 cyl doesn't seem to have that "problem".

And I've found the best tranny hunting can be had on craigslist :spy:

    None...yet
Tranny Hunting. Mines does it. I try to tell it it's wrong. "Go into S mode 6th gear" I says. "Stop downshifting" I says. But it's all wasted air. With cruise on, on flat ground, it will go for 5th if a butterfly farts. Gas mileage is sooo much better if I just drive it without cruise.
Got 16mpg crossing Illinois with a stiff headwind and cruise on. (Pretty well lived in 4th gear) Got 19.5mpg climbing up and through the Appalachian mountains with cruise off. Both are 70mph roads and I stayed around 73-74 the whole way.
