Unless you are rockcrawling i would leave it LT. It looks like it works on your truck.

    More progress...
Shock towers were going on later in the day after I headed South. Here are a couple full bump & droop pics.

    Getting closer.

I'd like to see how much he's gonna have to take out of the shock towers for the steering shaft to clear, I'd hate to cut those beauties up lol

    Looks great!

No cutting of the shock tower. Here is what it will somewhat look like when complete.

Ahh I see what you did there, very nice. I already had this steering shaft kit so I opted to notch my tower.

... me too! I spent $150.00 + tax/ shipping on the kit from Yota Masters which included 2 shitty u-joints, 2 DD shafts which telescoped into each other, a firewall plate & seal from Trail Gear... WTF. I do not want TG stuff on my truck, period!

The u-joints were new and crap for sure, I wouldn't put them on a go-cart. Looking for 'quality' parts, I sent them to Woodward and they laughed.
Turns out, Hendrick Motorsports was showing up the week after I sent them my parts. The owner, John I think, said he didn't have what I needed so he would send them to Borgeson, only after I approved that he keep them until after the visit with Hendrick.
John, says to me, I want to keep these and show them that "This is what's out there, and this is what we can provide."

After all of this being said, for $120.00, I bought 2 u-joints from Howe Performance Steering in Lakeside, CA. After, I had them tig welded onto the shafts & x-rayed, solid for sure.

Bottom line, some of the parts I pre-ordered will be used and some of what I dropped off yesterday will work.

It seems that, all SAS projects are a conglomeration of parts from the past that worked only now with the newer computerized stuff.

getting back to your reply, had mine been as easy to modify as yours, that would've been sweet.

Go to 4WU and have a look at the Cobra shock towers... no way to have them work with the configuration you made to yours.

Lol yeah I got lucky and got the whole borgeson shaft and joints along with my kit. I wasn't gonna run this housing but I weighed pros and cons and most of the metal shit I've bought from trail gear is great, it's when you start buying seals and China bearings that fucks you over. I think that's where they got the big side of all the negativity towards them. I wish I had all the $$ to just go one ton but that will be later down the line when I get tow rig and all that junk.

Sweet! More pics and info on that motor mount!! I wish i had a shop closer that actually knew what they were doing, and i didnt have to deal with fabricating crap. I know "built is better than bought" but F that, i like tinkering and wheeling, not spending 20hr days under this POS working on it. I'm getting to the age where i want to drop it off and pick it up all built, then again I'm too cheap to pay for it LOL.

Building my crawl box (3 times LOL) and my lefty was fun though. Im also looking forward to learning how to setup gears on my thirds. Ive done them on a 14bolt and a d44 but that was 12+yrs ago.

    Slander,
On the motor mounts, they are OEM. I did the Marlin trick to the driver side, and that was to drill through it and add a grade8 nut & bolt w/ Teflon washers. Snug it down to where there is an 1/8th" left before tight... nice & tight motor mount when on the throttle and no vibrations at idle.

Is that what you were referring to?

Ray (Silver Ghost Rises) has a build going on in the 1st gen buildup section... he would know the motor mount answer for sure.

Sorry for the delay... the windy weather has not allowed any welding to happen. All is complete minus plating the notch in the frame.
    Pics coming this week.

After a long day, I didn't get it back but there was a lot of progress. It has a temporary cross member for the trans and we installed the front axle. I installed a section of the exhaust and custom built two brake lines. Together, we tied it in and cycled everything while setting ride height. All good @ 9:00 pm last night... I then headed South for a 2.5 drive.

I'll get it back for sure next week.

Any way, here are some up-dated photos, Questions, comments - bring'em. Thanks.
