Does your significant other allow your kids to go wheeling/camping with you? I have a 5 year old that loves camping, being outdoors and riding in my truck, so natuarally I want to take her camping/wheeling with me when I go. My wife on the other hand is not into it, hates wheeling and will not let my daughter go with me on trips. She never camped as a kid and isn't the biggest fan of it now. I'm just wondering if any of you are in the same boat or have any suggestions. She is 5 months pregnant right now so taking her with us camping isn't an easy task.

My kid loves wheeling and camping. He's been out and quite a few trips with me since he was 3. The ex and I enjoy the outdoors type so we take him hiking, camping and we are looking into canoes or kayaks next

Took my 7 year old wheeling. He loved it. Plan to take my 11 year old daughter for a day trip this spring.

I get my kids outside as much as possible. The important thing is to not push them too much when they are little. Think a one hour wheeling trip followed by some time out of the truck exploring and picnicking.

    edit:
After re-reading your post, I realize your question was more about the wife. My wife gives me 100% trust with the kids and the outdoors, so I can't relate there. If your wife doesn't much care for the go big outdoors kind of stuff, how about building on the little things she does like about it? One thing I realized about the outdoors and my family is that it has to be about THEM when we go out. I can hang in the woods for days and days! My wife and kids, not so much. Maybe wheel to a little stream about 20 min in on an easy trail and let everyone play in the stream. Make your wife as comfortable as possible. Bring every comfort she could want and do all the work for her. How could she not like that?

I take my two 7 and 10 year old boys everytime I go. I started camping with them when my oldest was only 3.

Wife likes to get out and do stuff- she understands how much my boys and I like it. She does not necessarily enjoy the actual "off road" part- makes her squeemish, lol. She gets it though.

For us, the Tacoma is part of our outdoor lifestyle. :)
