So I just recently bought a 2000 tacoma and all was going well then a couple days ago I went to start it, turned the key and nothing happen. I turned it all the way off and tried it again and it started up just fine. This has happened about 4 to 5 times now, any ideas?

Any clicking? Or a single click of the starter engaging but not turning the engine?

I have 3 quick ideas. Possible loose battery connection, flat spot on starter, or bad ignition switch.

Usually the 1st gens are prety bulletproof.

there's been a few of these posts lately. check your neutral safety switch if it's a stick. or if you have the "clutch start cancellation" button, press it when your truck doesn't want to start and see if it does.

Op, this same exact thing happend to my jeep cherokee back when i was in HS. happend several times. Each time i fixed it by lightly tapping on the starter with a hammer and it worked. Indication of a bad atarter. Just another cheap thing to try.

As for the car charger i have no idea.

Could it be the starter solenoid? Usually they'll click a few times, recover, engage the starter. They'll do this several times and then just not start.
