I was quoted 3 weeks, as long as it's on my truck by April I'll be happy.

Also went XR, but I split the difference on windows. Went solid windoor on the driver's side and standard slider with a pet screen on the passenger side.

how do you like your softopper? I like the idea of this because I don't want a cap all the time. Only for camping trips

Was excited to have received the XR today! Arrived for the install and was let down to see it loaded back on the truck. My dealer, who is great, was not pleased with the quality control department and had contacted Leer to let them know he was returning it. Gouge on the roof and cargo cleats improperly installed on what was evidently "come into work drunk" day at Leer.

Looks similar to mine and I haven't noticed a hit on the MPG which leads me to think it's not causing much drag.

You have good taste my friend. I went out for a long drive today and I think it actually improved the MPG. It coasts way better for sure. Does it look like that from the side?

Snugtop Rebel: w light weight simple platform I installed two weeks ago:
3/4" plywood split down middle(2 sheets), full carpet wrapped, 2-1"x3" hollow steel beam cross support, Velcro secured. (Home Depot, Miller lumber yard, Swift Steel Co.) approx cost $130

Sorry, the photo doesn't show the gouge very well but I agreed with my dealer, it was an easy fix at the factory given a proper inspection. And yes, the cleats were installed 90 degrees off but more so, not even close to being in a straight line. Turn around time may be another 3-4 weeks, ugh! I still love the top and am confident Leer will make it right, just kinda sucks. On a positive note, the windoors looked great.

    You just inspired me.
Are those double sided taped little cushions you put on the ledges?

Single sided Velcro to hold everything down when off-road. However, my cuts to each plywood sit tight in cab;)

Do you know or can you find out if those cleats are installed with the roof rack rail or beside them. Looks like beside them definetly. I want to install cleats myself to my xl but dont know if i can drill directly into the roof or attatch them right through into the roof rail. I was thinking short self taping screws.
If you can tell me anything that would be awesone. I do not have a roof rack on mine.

They are definitely installed next to the roof rack and not a part of the rack itself which seemed odd to me that they wouldn't tie into it. Nevertheless, the dealer said they are installed within the reinforced honeycomb of the shell. We took one off and a tapped sleeve is embedded in the fiberglass to accept the screw. The hardware and cleats are stout, they just installed them wrong. If your shell has a rack, you have a reinforced shell and I see no reason you couldn't do it yourself.

    Good to know.
I dont have a roof rack so I will ask my dealer if the xl has any factory reinforced spots in the roof that I can drill into.
I like the installed nutt right into it idea though, never thought of that.
    Thanks man

Hers a photo of another TW members proper install. His looks great. If I were to try a DIY install I might take a look under the plugs of the rack and see what's available to tap into. image.jpg

Another member asked how it is to sleep back in a DCSB's 5' bed. So figured share these images too. DAC Mid-size truck tent about $140 from Amazon on my Snugtop Rebel. Takes only about 3 minutes to install on your ride.

This is awesome! Thanks for posting! I was kinda disappointed thinking I couldn't camp in the back of my truck with the shortbed (had to have the 6MT) but this is a great option!

    Mostly stuff I built.

Used to keep a 24" bicycle inter tube in the truck to air up between the camper glass and back glass so my dogs could stay cool with the rest of the passengers on long trips in the summer. This picture for some reason made me think of that.
