I would have guessed that method would've be a long, drawn out battle to get reimbursed.... I'm surprised! Good going bro!

I just explained everything including my distance from the dealer and lack of an available service appt till Saturday and asked "is that something Toyota Motor Company will reimburse me for?"

She said yes, requested the proof, and I'm done.

The Panasonics were pretty good. Mine lasted about nine years.

My wife's Rav4 needed a new one 2 yrs ago and as it happened it was the original. 2005, so 9 yrs and 120K I'm okay with especially being in a cold climate.

Did you check the water level of the battery? The OE batteries are serviceable and require periodic checking of the water levels.

I would potentially chalk it up to be lot rot with your battery.

As for what series battery to use I would had went with a 24 series because I believe those have a high CCA capacity.

I had mine fail at 4000kms (2500 miles). It was still working fine but leaking acid from the top plates. Dealer replaced under warranty.

The cost of a new battery is negligable. I would have done the same and would not have bothered with getting it replaced.

Glad it worked out OP. On a side note I read somewhere with the increased electronics in vehicles experts are recommending replace around 5 years to prevent potential damage to the new fangeled electronics supported by the battery. Not sure I believe that even a little, esp with our gen 2's. Sounds smart though.

I had my truck in to the dealership for the 25k checkup and oil-change. Service manager said the battery tested bad so they replaced it.

I've never had a battery fail so quickly. I do live in Phoenix, but have always lived in Phoenix. I don't do a lot of short trips, which is one way to stress a battery. Who knows. Sh!t happens. Actually it never showed a sign of failing for me, it was just something they caught on the inspection.

I saw the warranty ticket when they were finished with the service - $185 to replace the battery.

Since when did batteries get so fkn expensive? I've not had to replace one in forever really till 2 yrs ago (wife's Rav4) and jeez $100 was a bit of a surprise.
