I have a new carrier bearing on order along with new u joints. Hoping it will solve my vibration/shutter problem. U joints seem to be OK but the carrier bearing has about 1/2" of play side to side and up/ down. Wondering if this much play is normal and if this is the culprit? Suggestions?

Is the play in the rubber part? That's normal.

IMAG0250.jpg Yeah the whole rubber boot has play but the shaft also looks like its drooping in the housing. I have a picture. Standby...

Carefully look at the thin rubber part for tears. My '14 with 12k mi. is kind of sloppy but maybe not that much. FWIW, there are a few of us with the drive line vibes who have discussed stuffing the rubber part around the bearing with black urethane to stiffen it up and see if the vibes might be reduced.

I've never had vibes before. Just started a week ago. I have 61,000 on the odometer

I did look at the rubber boot around it. Looks like it might be torn on the bottom but I can't really see that area too well. Guess I will find out when I pull the shaft out.
