Hey guys, was looking for some insight on how to remove those stupid swirl marks from my truck. Drive a black 2012 Tacoma and very ocd about the cleanliness of it. So it's very well maintained, but I can't seem to get the swirls out. What's the best detailer y'all use?

You have access to a DA polisher? That's the best way to attack the swirls. Meguires Ultimate Compound/Polish should do the job.

You might also try Meguires Black wax. But a DA is likely necessary to get rid of the swirls. Compound/Polish would be more effective.

I've read that HD Speed is also a nice all in one that has some good cut. $14.99 on Amazon.

Basically, unless you wanna spend hours and hours and hours by hand- you'll need a machine.

What he said but the standard entry level DA polisher is the Porter Cable 7424XP. Also look at HD version: Another cheap entry one is Griots Garage 6", which I believe has a lifetime warranty and also available as HD.

Yeah, get a machine if you want to effectively remove swirls from your paint. You can't do it by hand no matter how much you use your hand to jack off. It's just not fast enough.

Yep, lifetime warranty on the GG6.

I just read a thread over on AG where someone was very happy with the filling capabilities of the Meguires Black Wax. He posted pics and it looked like the polishing oils in the Black Wax did do a stellar job at masking the swirls on black paint. So, there's another option for you OP. Might be as good as you'll get by hand. Easy to find. I think it's about $13 and comes in a toothpaste-type tube.

I'd love to see your results if you give it a try. Ultimate Polish also has a heavy oil load, so UP followed by Ultimate Liquid Wax might be an improvement as well. Lots of ways to skin a cat. By hand, I'd be trying the black wax for sure.
