I would say throw in more filler rod to get less of that undercut, steady hand an practice you'll be gold. X-ray will be your worst nightmare in pipe or bestfriend lol ..

Have any pictures of the other side? The top side does look like it's a bit undercut.

It will probably be the next welder I buy. Haven't used one yet, but I like what I see.

Had to look that one up. The one you built looks to have a very specific excavation to compact as the ones I saw had the wheels lined up side by side.

Ya learn something new every day! :D

I got my TC cam tab gussets in today, should I MIG or TIG them?
1/8" steel for the backing and the tabs are 1/4" steel.

My teacher said that he or one of the students that has had TIG time could weld them up for me if I wanted.

Here's a downpipe I made for my turbo build. First time tig welding stainless. Not super pretty, I need to work on my consistency on round objects.

Anyone have any advice on fusion welding on a non structural exhaust tube? I did not purge any of the pipe for this so there is some sugaring inside. I think it'll be fine but I can still run over it with filler.

Quick question for you guys. Last summer I ordered a 10" run of 3/16" 2x6 channel aluminum. I'm using it to stand up lengthwise and weld it to my platform on the boat so I can mount my trolling motor to it.

Well the piece they sent me was just one solid block of aluminum. I didn't have time to wait for the right piece so I had my buddy attempt to weld it on. It worked for most the season but the torque of the trolling motor finally broke it off. Went to re order the right piece and was told they don't even make aluminum channel like what I want.

I've asked several shops up here and no one will even attempt to weld the block. They all say it will take half a day to get it hot enough to actually weld and they don't want to hassle with it.

So my question is would it be easier to just take some 3/16th aluminum sheet and make a box to fit or is it worth trying to weld that block on?
