    Hey guys.......

I have several questions to post so bare with me. I bought my 2012 trd sport DCSB used, with 58,000 miles. I put bilstein 5100's all around with the fronts set at 1.75. The right is much rougher than the stock, I can pretty much feel every little bump on the road and when i hit a pot hole/man hole, i feel like the back end is about to break off. Also, im running BFG 265/70/17's with pro comp 7005 17x8 wheels. I've been doing a lot of reading on this forum as i always do, and came to the conclusion that adding 884/885 coils will stiffen up the right (which is what im looking for).

first question: will the 885 or 884 give more of a stiff ride?

2nd question: If i add the 884's/885's, im guessing i should set the bilsteins to 0, correct?

3rd: I bought the truck used, and im not sure if the previous owner got the TSB leaf pack and im not really sure how to check if they did. Right now im sitting pretty level with the 5100's set at 1.75. will it be level or nose high with the 884's or 885's? im going to assume that the back has no TSB leaf pack.

4th: i got an alignment after the 5100's, will i need to get another one if i put 884's/885's in? will i need new UCA's?

sorry for all the questions, just kind of discouraged. after putting new tires/wheels/bilsteins, the truck rides pretty crappy compared to stock. I know its not supposed to be perfect but i know its not supposed to be how it is now.

thank you guys for all the help. im open to criticism, say what you must. IMG_1044.jpg

its not the lift. its the tires

I have c load bfg ko2's and the ride is not my cup of tea. but i did the lift first on p rated and loved it (ome 884's) with cooper atp's and drove it for a month. switch and the ride is shit for me

well if it is the tires then that really sucks haha because i dont plan on changing back to stock. So, you have the 884's? are you still running the KO2's? I have the C load too.

Yep. Its not the worst thing in the world. play with tire pressure or listen to what the others say. I know what affected my ride quality and maybe yours is different.

KO2's kill the small bump compliance on your truck. The casing is super rigid. I keep mine 32-33 psi and it's tolerable on roads. Airing down for anything savagely bumpy will help, but you'll never get anywhere remotely near the ride of a stock p-rated tire.

i have them at 32 PSI right now. I guess im going to have to sacrifice ride quality for looks in this case. So putting new 884/885 coils wont help solve the problem?

Some retards at tire shops (I've read on this forum) actually air the tires up to their max, which I believe for your 6 ply tires would be 50 psi. Like others have said, 32-35 is usually best.

Bilsteins at 0 with 884's will give you 2" of lift and will feel smoother that the stock springs being preloaded in your current setup. Spring rate (comfort) in 884 and 885 are identical but 885 give an extra .5" of lift. You should be OK without UCA's as long as you keep the lift to 2.5" or less.

Get an alignment when you make any changes. Lifetime alignment shops are probably worth it if you are going to be playing around with suspension setups. Also, because the 88_'s will settle over the first couple weeks of being mounted so you should return for a follow up alignment once that happens.

Honestly, man, for the minimal improvement you'll see between 5100's at 1.75 and 884's, you should just save the money for better mods. That would NOT be the case for 5100's at 2.5 vs. 885's. 5100s preloaded that far start to ride pooey. Let the OME fanboys crucify me for that, but that's just my two cents.

yeah i feel that man. im just trying to explore my options and get the taco as close to stock as possible without actually putting the stock 265/60/18's back on, and the bilstein 4600's

    I've had 5100s at 1.75 and I have 884s now.

    They are very different.

    But what do I know.

i have 884's with 5100's all around. I liked the ride until the ko2's. this isnt a high end setup obviously but the ride was improved for me over stock until the tires. and the tires came last so I know what made the difference

I maintained factory rake with my lift setup but my previous setup was leveled.

5100s front and rear, 1.75 setting up front and Wheelers Offroad 3 leaf AAL out back, which gave me 2" with my OEM overload still installed.

so you like the ride better with the 884's? preferably i'd like to keep the truck level. but if having a small rake will make things better i dont mind that. do you have the taco lean with the 884's?

then you are preloading or somethings is wrong. the 5100 is a better shock than stock.

No but I added a OME trim packer to help thwart lean.

Honestly, myself and many others have complained about driving with 5100s at 1.75, the road manners are shit.

I gained lift with 884s and am still on stock UCAs and the driving is night and day better.

5100s are great options but IMO when you're hitting 1.75 or 2.5 you're better served with lift coils.

yeah, so i think ill just go for the 884's because that seems like a good option and not too expensive, and i definitely dont have enough scrap for new UCA's haha. whats the trim packer?
