Not necessarily a matter of decibels but imo, the better it sounds the more fun it is to "floor". Not that I have such exhaust

I just remember a really old signature of his showing why he recommended a certain product

I think welds are what caused me to replace my old exhaust. It was custom (but just like stock) from previous owner. I replaced it with a pipe bomb but installed it incorrectly so it still sounds like broken welds

 

OP: I asked this exact same question when I first joined at 16 but I asked about intakes and exhaust in general. Just like today, many including rock lobster taught me that my money was better spent elsewhere (but I was looking for performance where you are looking for sound, so you may still buy something). I sounded just like you too, not that you've said anything wrong, just a funny coincidence.
