Aftermarket. BudBuilt and other slider manufacturers needed a place to anchor the rear of a transfer case skid, so they provide a bolt-in tubular cross member.

In the time since the origination of this thread, many manufacturers have pushed to get no drill bolt on designs out. I ordered mine from Pelfreybilt last week.

Same question then - can you provide some pics of the attachment points when you get them?

Thanks! It looks like these could be made to work with the BudBuilt skids, but they don't look as durable as the Mobtown sliders or a weld-on installation. Does SOS claim that these are as strong as weld-ons, or that they can support the weight of the truck on a high-lift?

Thanks for the kind words, Paul. Our sliders are the only ones that use a fully boxed c-clamp section to secure our sliders. Many other vendors make quality sliders and get by without it. We felt we could go a step beyond 'just good enough' to make our sliders unique. Our unique boxed section is what causes a conflict in using some skid plates. We have confirmed that RCI skids work with our sliders. We are also working on a design of our own skids.

As discussed via PM, I am very interested in your approach, and I don't like "good enough" either. If you need a test rig for BubBuilt compatibility I am willing to work with you. I have $1700 in aluminum under there, so I'm not in a possition to ditch them and try again. Distance is an issue, but Baltimore is drivable from Columbus with some advanced scheduling. If you're up for an R&D and beers weekend, let me know. My only other alternative if I want to use your sliders - and after lots of research, I do - would be to remove the BudBuilt cross member, install your sliders, and then find a fab sop that could modify the cross member ends to share bolts or mate with your c-clamps some other way. I like a challenge, but i don't weld.

Do you have any pics of the RCI skids installed with your sliders? I just checked their website, and I think I might just be able to use their cross member in place of the BudBuilt unit. I would just have to drill mounting holes in the RCI cross member to match up with the BB - at least it looks like it would work. I don't weld, but I'm known for making big holes in new stuff!

I'm not sure if Eddy would use the words AS STRONG AS weld-ons (I don't want to put words in his mouth) you would have to ask him. But I know they will support the weight of the truck no problem. I have used a high lift jack on my truck and put jack stands under mine to remove the front tires.
