I could be wrong , but I thought in the US that existing knob and tube wiring could remain as long as it was certified to be in good condition and does not exist within the scope of work of a renovation , ie the wiring is not physically accessible and does not service the new circuits

I replaced all four ceiling fans in my house. Also put a new one in the new baby room to replace a light fixture. What a pain in the ass that one was.

It can be, but so can aluminum wire. I push for replacement in any remodel and hate dealing with them.

If that remodel was done right, they should have replaced all knob and tube in the entire house.

I will probably go through and Re wire parts that arent it if we still buy it. They need to figure out what's going on with the pump

For sure . There's always code compliant versus best practice , I was just pointing out that it's presence in the home doesn't necessarily mean the renovation work was shoddy or illegally done .

    Of course.

From his first comment but it has granite tops... leadshe me to think it was a flip or a quick makeover before it's sold. I think it's one of the things you pick up on after being in the construction side for a while, I always enjoy going with friends to check out houses they are interested in. And I've only seen a few good home inspectors out of the many I've seen.
Age and condition of plumbing, electric, hvac and structure can cost you way more than an updated kitchen will.

No I've never used any of the ones they carry. Other then the bigger graco, but I can imagine they wouldn't work.

Worked on trying to finish some garage organization. Finished securing some studs to the block wall for the Gladiator Garage Gearwall panels.

lowered and screwed up by previous owner, trying to undo it
Installed recessed LED lights in kitchen. Finished at 1 am. Then I realized that I forgot my phone in the ceiling (I used it as a light and video cam to guide the wires through the ceiling). Had to pull out one of the cans, fish out my phone and reinstall

Speaking of can lights; I have some in my kitchen that I was sick of fooling with par38 cfls and what not and decided to get some LED retrofit downlights. Got these and I couldn't be happier. The bezels on these are metal so should hold up mucho better than the plastic ones on the original cans that started cracking/yellowing from age. The dimming seems to work better than the cfl par38s they replaced. It also says they are 65watt equivalent, but I'll be damned if they aren't as bright as the 100 watt equivalent cfls.
