Nasty News from home while Deployed

good morning everyone, i had an account but can not remember what it was to save my life.

i would like to share my tragic tale. im in afghanistan doing a year tour making money to send home to my 06 prerunner.
my brother (19yo) has an 84 mustang SVO as a daily driver. so instead of letting my truck sit in the florida sun for a year and risking it getting messed up from people at work driving it, i told my brother to go from dallas to florida to pick it up and use it to drive while in college.

when i got chances to call him, i always asked how he was doing, the family, and my truck! i should've gotten the hint when he always said "good" about the truck and changed the subject.



rough recall of the police report: 10pm: my brother was north bound on a road that is none for high traffic and speeders. he needed to take a left turn to get to IHOP so he jumps in the turn lane with nothing but a yield sign. when he noticed the traffic was clear, he started across. his passanger (a friend from highschool i knew) yelled out "CAR!!" about the time he was just perpendicular to the road.

3 reports say the car that was heading soundbound had no headlights on, only foglamps and underglow street lights. it was a lowered honda civic. reports also say he was driving no less than 65mph!

the lowered honda drive straight underneath and sent my baby (and my brother) almost straight up into the air. it landed on the front driverside tire (between 15-25ft. from the point of impact) deploying the airbags.

sadly i have no picture of the honda, but i was told it no longer looked like a car (i think my grandad said all 4 tires were folded flat on the ground like a Delorian)

btw, i came out even. insuance paid for gap.

 

Thats a bummer man. I'll guess you'll be getting a new truck when you get back.

Thankfully your bro is okay and the truck can be replaced-Plus crap like that could have happened at any time/to anyone- It wasn't his fault.

And you'll have a boat load of money to pay on a 2010 or mod it up!!

 

That ain't real bad news. Bad news would have been your brother being hurt severely or killed. You truck can and will be fixed!

 

Yet again I have to remind you guys how off your game you are:

Most importantly, your bro and his buddy are OK (you didn't say but I'm assuming since you have spoken to him that he is). Like others said, you'll have the opportunity to give yourself a nice present, a new truck, upon your return.
