I haven't driven any of 2016 models yet. For those of you who have driven both the Sport and OR on paved roads how do you think each rides/drives on paved roads? I won't be doing any off road driving and it doesn't snow where I live. But I like the look of the OR better. I like the black fenders on the OR and I don't like the hood scoop on the Sport, particularly since it's just decoration. I'll test drive each but trying to get some feedback of others versus the two models. I'm also still trying to decide between long or short bed. I was convinced at first I wanted the Sport long bed, but I may settle for the short bed to get the OR. I don't want to go up to the 4x4 OR just to get the long bed.

This is just a choice you just have to go out and make on your own dude. There's no wrong choice as long as you choose the truck you'll be able to use to handle what you want it to do. They drive similar enough that it's a mute point, IMO. Pick the bed size that will best handle your needs and as long as you like the look of it, rock n roll!

Post pictures once you have it!!

I bought the Off Road right after finally driving one. I didnt like how the SR5 or Sport drove but the OR was just soft enough for me to enjoy the drive.

The thicker tires also help absorb the road and saves my back. There's no wrong choice, but I had to get a long bed and I was forced to get access cab in canada.

I've never off roaded, but I like the fact that I could now if I wanted to. The OR was the only choice for me.

I find myself in the same situation. Love the OR look, especially the absence of the 'non-functional' scoop, however I think I'll have to get the Sport because, like you:
    -I don't need 4X4 function
-I need a DC (kid on the way)

-BUT I want the LB (I think it looks better) and there's more room to haul stuff

This really limits me to the sport since the OR isn't available in DCLB (2x4), which sucks, but then again, I get the reasoning behind it.

I have read that the OR rides smoother on pavement, over the sport; but haven't driven an OR to see/feel for myself.

It's interesting to read another person in a similar dilemma as myself - only I don't know if I can sacrifice the LB, when I don't want/need 4X4. Not sure where you're located, but where I am, haven't found a 4x4 DCLB OR located in 500 miles from me.

I thought the sport drove nice! - of course, anything will drive (at least feel better) than my 97 T-100. Lol

Keep us posted! I, myself, am planning on buying in the next few months. Whatever you do get, you're making a great choice- Tacoma.

    Cheers

I care more about handling than a soft ride. However, the OR handles reasonably well. The springs are soft, but the shocks are very good so it's fine for a high-riding truck. I got the OR because I bought the truck to go off-road. However, I considered the possibility that I would end up swapping in the suspension from a sport if I couldn't stand the OR handling. It turned out fine, so I'm good until the upgrade bug hits. Soooo.... That said....

You could get the sport and then swap in 16" wheels and relatively soft tires like the OR (for instance, buy someone's take-offs). If that wasn't enough, you could probably buy someone's take-off OR suspension and swap that in. That way you'd have your 4x2 long bed with the same ride as the OR. You would have spent some money, but you'd probably come out ahead vs. buying a 4x4 with the up-front cost and getting lower mileage the whole time you own the truck. You can swap hoods also; some folks like the scoop. Not sure about the fender flares. The route I'm describing is a hassle, but sometimes you have to make what you want if you can't buy it directly.

    Good luck.
