So I'm thinking of doing a one or two night trip up to Mendo National forest. I have personally never been much further than Penny Pines. I'm looking for a place to camp where I can make use of my 4wd on the way. Then some other trails. To have fun on. Maybe switch spots or just on the way back. Anyway I realize it's prob real muddy now but I'm just trying to plan ahead. Thanks y'all.

It's been years, but I used to run that area. That was back when Indian Valley Res was full of water. I never saw any camprgrounds, so I just parked wherever. Be carefull though as there are property owners in the area.

Watch out for the mudholes at wide spots. They will be deeper than you think. I came across one such hole that had a wee bit of a CB antenna sticking out of it. Two D8's were trying to pull out a Ford one ton from out of the hole. That antenna was one of those long 102" steel whip antenna'. There was a chevy truck on top of the Ford, and that's why the two Forest Service Dozers.

Burned up when parents house burnt to the ground. Also, They don't plow the roads up there during the winter, so have fun. The property owners have Gold Mines up there, so be careful.
