Looking for a good shop to take a look at my 3.4l. I swear I'm hearing engine ping, but Beaman insists it's a loose heat shield. The noise doesn't occur until after the engine is warm, so it can't be that. Plus I have checked the heat shields. The noise is definitely coming from the FRONT of the engine bay. Any tips on good mechanics who can diagnose in my area?

Rhea Little in Brentwood. Used them a lot before I moved to Knoxville. Very honest shop with quality work. Sometimes he is pretty booked though.

Just a thought...the heat shields could be affected by engine heat, due to expansion of metal parts in the exhaust system as they warm up. Sometimes they might not rattle when cold, but they will when warm.
Conversely, it could work the other way around as well. But, coming from the front of the engine bay, it's a pretty slim chance that it's a metal rattle. Good luck with it.
