Are the front strut assemblies on these (6 lug ones) side specific?

lowered and screwed up by previous owner, trying to undo it
I'm getting mixed info. One shop told me they're not side specific, another place says they are. I'm talking about 1st gen 6 lug Tacomas.

They are not, the rear shocks are side specific due to the weight of the gas tank.

Rear yes. But its because one shock is longer than other where one is mounted on front of axle and other behind.

I installed new front assemblys on mine last summer and they were sticker marked left & right. I looked for what the difference could be & that it seems it was the mount orientation.

Some are some arent. I believe oem coils are specific. Most aftermarket coils arent. I believe this is why the taco lean appears after getting new suspension.

@johnny3 did you use oem coils? Or aftermarket? Either way the driver side would have been rated for more weight. On the front there is no difference in mount orientation, this is only applicable to rear shocks....

From my understanding the only difference in the front struts is the way they are clocked, that is, the way the top plate is turned to line up the bolts with the mounting holes. You can reclock them, but it's a pain in the rear because you have to compress the spring to do it. The rear shocks are different lengths. The right is longer than the left.

This. The struts themselves arent side specific but as an assembly they can be (either differently clocked or some have different coils).
