I read a number of threads previously posted about the QI charging pad in Tacoma, but none directly answered my question. I just purchased my new Tacoma this week and I'm also in the market for a new cell phone . I want to get the Samsung Galaxy S-6 . Has anyone used this combination? If so, do I have to buy an extra accessory for the S-6 to make it compatible with the QI charger, or is the S-6 compatible right out-of-the-box ?

Galaxy S6 worked for me. Note 5 didn't..... I have since sold the S6 and bought the LG V10 which charges well.

Since I have a Galaxy S6, I figured I'd by a new charger for it....my $38,000 cell phone charger is due in just a few weeks!

I have the GS6 EDGE and it works no problem even with an otter box commuter case on. Well... It works on and off. The case does interfere but with optimal placement it seems to work fine. Wish I could ditch the case but meh.

Next year the phones wireless charging will probably work better or an aftermarket Qi pad will be available for install with a stronger signal one or the other. Either way I'm not worried

S6 EDGE+, works perfectly. But not with my Spigen case. Very annoying to have to pop the phone out every time...looking for an alternative.

Do you have a case for the S6E+ that's compatible?

Those of us with apple phones can use the QI pad if you buy a QI charging kit from a place like Amazon. Only issue with this is you need to have some kind of case to slip the charging receiver in behind and it helps if you have one you can modify like an otterbox commuter to make room for the pad. It also does away with the fragile apple charging cords that end up separating every 6 months.
