Al Dhafra was the shit. The Emiratis were so very nice, and we got tons of free tours through Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The Qatari were pretty cool; it was normally base leadership that sucked.

Bahrain was weird. Did a couple trips through there. Laughed every time I saw the locals towing their busted F-16C around with a big tractor.

The Kuwaitis were simply dickheads to us, on par with Saudis. I hate Saudis too.

I can't believe that the only place where we weren't treated like children were in Iraq and Afghanistan.

We had some names for it during my '06 trip through there.

World's largest day care center without a swing set.

World's largest trailer park in desperate need of a tornado.

World's largest American prisoner of war camp.

    Stalag Udeid (my favorite).

Spent a lot of time at the bra having a cigar and my three-beer yard time. Made a shiv one day out of a plastic DFAC spoon. At least air crew got a break and got to leave from time to time. We in the CAOC didn't have the guard's favor, so we got no perks.

Nice shot. Do you fly caravans for FedEx?

The company I work for is Empire Airlines, we're one of the feeder airlines for FedEx operating Caravans, and ATR's.

There is no guarantee of a job with FedEx, but it doesn't hurt to have experience in their planes. I know several guys who've moved up; others move to other airlines.

Caravan pilots tend to stay where they are; there tends to be more movement in the ATRs.

Two GE90 powered 777s I worked on this great 70 degree day. Mostly routine, ETOPS departure stuff. One to Honolulu, Hawaii the other (the one I'm under) to Paris, France.
