Had to do some front end work yesterday to remove the left and right shocks.

My truck is a 2010 Prerunner and I have been wanting to do some preventative maintenance on the LCA bushings and cams to prevent them from corroding.

With the shocks removed, I marked the cams with a Sharpie felt marker. Pulled the bolts for the LCA, both aft pivots were fine, no corrosion. The forward bolts were fine, however the cams had corrosion on them as did the bushing ID. Everything still came apart easily but with time this would be ugly as others have found.

I suspect the cams are not the real problem, they are plated. The bushing ID though is bare steel and seems to pose the concern.

Regardless, I coated all the surfaces with Mastinox D40 http://www.ppg.com/coatings/aerospace/sealants1/mastinox.pdf
    and reassembled.

FWIW, all the chassis items I have had apart, rear u-bolts, swaybar mounts, shock mounts, slider mounts etc. have had Mastinox D40 corrosion compound applied. Plus I keep a respectable application of Corr Ban 22 on everything I can spray it on.

The LCA corrosion prevention is pretty easy and worthwhile. My truck is low mileage. The corrosion will happen on a street truck if you drive it in the rain or worse in the snow. The design has no provision to keep water out.

    Best of luck with it.

Has this helped since you posted in 2013?

I think I have the same issue.
