I'm sure that'll void warranty, and since this is my first new vehicle I'll be mod-light. But if the power gets aggravating, I'll definitey put AT LEAST 4.10

4.10 is what 05-15 2.7 manuals had. I owned an 09. It was a bit weak off-roading. Good luck

Can you tell any power increase form the dual VVTi? Or does the weight offset it?

Like you mine is on order. Build date is 3-5. Should be delivered around 3-15. The 2.7 motor loves to run at higher rpm. I only plan on running 265/75R-16 BFG all terrains. I'm sure I'll be using 4th gear a lot.

My '12 2.7 manual had plenty of power for off-road, key was keep the tire size stock and use 4LO.

But the highway power sucked bad.

And at 9,000 feet....forget it. Doing 40 mph in 2nd gear with the pedal floored going over the Rockies on I70 was really scary. Makes you appreciate truckers.

Something I never want to experience again. Just a total inability to go a safe speed. I don't know how those truckers do it, but I do know they are paid well for their skills (as they should be).

Hello everyone. I have the same configuration as everyone in this thread. Just got it and I have a couple of questions about the radio:
Is there a way to turn the radio screen off?
If you have the iPhone connected via USB port does the radio recognize your phone sometimes as an iPhone and sometimes as iPad?
I have to also mention that my previous car was 2004 regular cab manual Tacoma and initially I was shocked by the massive size of my new ride and kind of hated it but after 10 days of owning the car and one long trip I am already in love:)

To turn the screen off, click set up, and a button is at the bottom appears that says "screen off". Learned that one last night. When you change the channel or volume using the steering wheel button with the screen off, a small band appear at the top of the screen to show you what you are doing. You can also adjust the brightness in set up (I have it all the way dim).

Other way around. Manuals get the 4.3 gears, all autos get the 3.90. Would be better if they all had the 4.3 gears.

How dare you make me jealous like that! Did you order it? If so, how long did it take?

@Bxnanaz sorry there's one sitting at the dealership just south of me for the past month. I kept going back and forth on the 2.7 5MT 4x4 AC (since no more trd or 6MT AC), but I think I'm going to pull the trigger on a TRD OR 4x4 DCSB 6MT. Just because from the factory, it has elocker/atrac. I'd have to install ARBs in the 2.7 4x4, I didn't care to do that. My only complaint is the short bed, but it's a trade off... trying to let my wife keep my 2.7L 5MT PreRunner. Best truck I've ever owned.

There were no 2.7 SR 5MT 4x4s in the southeast at the time of my order :/ Hope you can make up your mind!

Yea me too. I've been back and forth on this purchase for a year now, haha. I'm not an impulse buyer, especially considering ive had no payment for 3 years now. I personally love the 2.7L engine. I've never been unsatisfied with its power, but that I get stuck everywhere I go, since 2WD. At least the new 4x4 come with TRAC and ALSD. Those are definitely good standard tools for the base model.

Nope, I didn't have to, I called every dealer I could, and luck would have it, they had it in stock. I love it so far, great ride, good driver postion. I'll have to wait till I get past the thousand mile before I can really test though.
